With Christmas it’s been a little while since we went out to the cinema however normal service has been resumed and this week we got out to see Creed 2.
All in all I wasn’t overly bothered either way about this film, I remember watching the first Creed movie and didn’t really care for it, Stallone is long past he sell by date and while some of the films he’s made over the last decade have been thoroughly OK, I don’t think he’s added much value to them on the whole.
Creed 2 is no exception in this regard, The film follows Adonis Creed, Apollo Creeds’ son and picks up where the first film left off, Adonis is the number 1 contender and everything is going well for him. Everything takes a bit of a poor turn when Ivan Drakos’ son is brought to the USA to challenge for the title and bring honour back to his family as after his fathers loss to Rocky his life took a turn for the worse.
As expected though the hero goes through a training montage, although it was missing the protein shakes and chicken & rice, and then returns to the ring to defeat the villain of the piece.
All in all I’d give this film a average 5/10, probably worth waiting for the DVD/Netflix release.
