Following on from my last jaunt into the remade Resident Evil universe me and my cousin moved on to the remade original Resident Evil game.
As with Resident Evil 0 Capcom have done a fantastic job in not just retexturing the game but in adding extra content and fixing what I would have said was one of the best parts of the original game, the hammy acting. It’s still a little bad and the dialog for the most part is how I remember it but there was just something quite endearing of hearing Chris enter the main hall after losing Jill and Wesker and saying “Jill, Wesker… What happened to Jill and Wesker?” with no emotion in his voice whatsoever.
To touch on the graphics again though they were really well done, from seeing the much improved character models and items you pick up along the way to the amazing environments you get to play through.
There were a couple of extra flourishes added the games content too with extra rooms to visit and slightly stronger enemies to face, expanded lore, completely new areas I had never seen and some great new bosses like a giant mutant bat.
Ultimately though the game does follow the same story as the classic Playstation 1 game and is well worth a playthrough if you get the chance, better still it comes in a double pack on the Playstation 4 with Resident Evil 0, which is also superb.
