A Quack Finish #31

Many, many years ago my cousin borrowed me a game, I was unable to beat it so he took it away but then he brought it back… and I was still unable to beat it. Cut to 30+ years later and I have finally put to bed a game I should have beaten when I was a child, Quackshot – Staring Donald Duck.

I recently showed this game in a pick ups video and made the comment that it was one that I had never beaten even though I had a lot of nostalgia for the title as a game that I actually played back in the day when my cousin Joe would borrow us the game.

The game itself is a great little platformer from Disney where you control Donald Duck on the hunt for treasure! One thing I really liked about the game is that it gave you 3 choices of stage you could play however if you went to a stage that you weren’t supposed to you’d be able to make some progress and hit a checkpoint, you’d then be able to call Launchpad and head to a different stage where you may unlock an item which allows you to go further into the stage you got stuck at or it to may lead to a roadblock. Eventually though you will find the item you need and then you’ll be able to progress the other stages.

The gameplay is a little difficult in places but for the most part if you take your time and learn from your mistakes you can get through it with little trouble and can do so inside a few hours which isn’t what I did, I got stuck died a lot and got the game over screen, rage quit and came back to it the next day, got a little further and then died, rage quit and came back again. All in all it took me 3 or 4 days to beat the game this way but beat it I did and I am really happy to say I enjoyed it and was sad when I had finished it.
